Food Quality and Safety

Food quality and safety has become a subject of global concern, which is related to human health, social stability and rapid development of the food industry. Based on life sciences and food science, this major studies the relationship between food nutrition, safety and health, the assurance of food nutrition and the quality management of food hygiene , which becomes a bridge to connect to the food science and preventive medicine. The discipline of "Food Science and Engineering" supported by this major is in the advanced ranks of homogeneous subjects in China, and was selected into the national first-class undergraduate majors and the key construction site of " project 211", and the first-class doctoral programs and postdoctoral research station were established.In addition, the major will offer a four-year bachelor of engineering degree.

Objectives

To be able to apply the basic theories, knowledge and skills in chemistry, engineering, biology, food safety and public administration, and could engage in food analysis and detection, quality and safety control, supervision and management, risk assessment and safety evaluation, and scientific research in relevant enterprises and institutions.

Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Chemistry, Principles of Food Engineering, Food Nutrition and Safety, Fundamentals of Food Processing, Food Analysis and Detection, Food Toxicology, Food Standards and Regulations, Food Quality Management.

Employment

1. scientific research, product development, engineering design and production management in food market supervision, health, biology, light chemical and other industrial departments and scientific research units.

2. food quality analysis and hygiene inspection in market supervision, internal and external trade, customs and other units.

3. teaching and research work of food quality and safety majors and similar majors in higher education institutions.
